How do I get rid of a canker sore?

I have concluded that I have one on my mouth, close to the edge of my mouth. I though it was cold sore but it's been a week and nothing's happened, it's just red and hurts a bit when I touch it, I don't think it's a cold sore because it doesn't itch or tingle. What else could it be? If feels painful like a bad pimple when I touch it. and how can i get rid of it faster?
