Car problem, maybe carburetor?

I have a 1974 Malibu Clic, it has been doing this thing lately where if I am stopped it will jerk forwards and then die. I have been using gumout carb cleaner and it will be ok for a few days and then goes back to the same problem. Do I need to replace the carburetor, or is there something else I can do?
